BSG Ep. Epiphanies: Adama, Roslin

Just some more thoughts on the latest BSG Season 2 episode, Epiphanies. Warning: SPOILERS!! More thoughts on characters... Admiral Adama - Adama came off as quite the heavy and flunky in this episode upon first glance. But when you look closer you can see that while yes Adama is willing to go along with Roslin's order to terminate Sharon's baby he has some reservations (perhaps is even against the idea on some level). The two instances that make me think this is true are the look he gave Roslin once the order had been finalized and when later facing down...

SciFi Friday Reviews

SPOILER WARNINGS! Stargate SG-1: "Ripple Effect" (AKA Tales From A Parallel Universe) I enjoyed Ripple Effect immensely even though it wasn't honestly all that good an episode. I think I liked it because of the overall "light" feel to the episode mixed in with the serousness of the situation. That, combined with the over abundance of Samspeak (read: technobabble) just came across as amusing and quite entertaining to me. Comments and random thoughts: The Multiverse. Bwah! Honeymoon? Maternity Leave? I guess the alter-Sams got their act together in their personal lives. Heh. Just how many uniform variation are we going to see? My miscellaneous...

Back Home

I'm back at my apartment now. The funeral service yesterday was nice and it was nice to see some relatives I haven't seen in years (over a decade for some). Fortunately this time the Gray Clan didn't practically go to war with one another after the funeral. Probably because only the closest faily showed up instead of the three hundred or so that showed up for Grandfather Neal's funeral. Anyway, it was a nice, short service with some shared memories and laughs. I had forgotten a lot fo things that she had done in her life. Nothing earth shattering but...

BSG Flash fic: “And All My Hope…” (Lee Adama, Rated: G)

Title: And All My Hopes… Author: Karolyn Gray Rating: G/K Characters: Lee Adama Spoilers: Resurrection Ship, Pt 1 and Pt 2 Archiving: Yes Word Count: 597 Disclaimers: Not mine. RDM said we could play with them. Notes: Inspired by the Eli Moon poem, “Fading away”. The poem can be found at http://www.poetrysoup.com under Mr. Moon’s name. This fic has not been beta read. And All My Hopes... by Karolyn Gray I never realized how empty space really is, not until today as I float here and watch the battle continue. No sound. Just flashes of light here – weapons fire,...
Found out my grandmother's funeral is set for thursday, so don't expect to see anything on my LJ from wednesday on. I probably won't post anything until next weekend. We finally had our first snow fall of the winter season. About time, too. There's normally some snow in December but weather here in Az has been strange. Granted tonight's snow was more a sprinkling (not even an inch here at the apartment) but at least it is something. (Un)fortunately no more snow predicted for the next few days. I shouldn't complain since I honestly am not all that fond of...

Annoying new neighbors

Why is that the people that have moved into the apartment complex recently (and are usually thrown oit within three months) so damned loud and annoying? Cranking the stereo so loudly I actually went down stairs to ask them to turn it down or shut it off (they get the police called on them by another neighbor the first night they move in), constantly screaming and yelling, banging on everything in sight (hell they've already put a dent on their front door!), and acting as if they're deaf. Then again blaring their music like they do, they might be deaf....

SciFi Friday Reviews

Reviews and commentary for 1/13/2006 SciFi Fridays line up (Spoilers behind the cuts): Finally a non-Ori episode! (Yes I'm completely uninterested in the Ori storyline. They've done nothing to make it interesting to me yet.) Even better this episode was one I had been hoping for, a little story involving Mitchell in which we gain a little more backstory on the character. It wasn't the greatest episode ever, but it was decent enough. There's some good character development and backstory for Cameron Mitchell which I liked and some nice ethical issues brought forward (however briefly) but over all the story...

RIP Frances Kernodle Gray

A bit sad at the moment since my grandmother passed away today. Her passing wasn't unexpected as she had been sick for some time now. I'm told she passed peacefully after being taken off life support per her living will and that the priest (though not Methodist) did an excellent job. Don't know when the funeral is at the moment, but I'm being told teusday at the earliest since they need to send her body down to Phoenix to be buried in the Gray family plot along side my grandfather. So if you don't see anything here form me for...
Well I'm finally back at my apartment near university. Yay! I still need to finish reorganzing the place and figuring out why my wireless router isn't working properly. Oh well. I'm sure it's nothing too bad, but for now I'm back on dialup. Gah!
