BSG’s Caprica: Just another Mercy Point?

I've been catching up on BSG news and spoilers that I've missed over the past few days and of course came across the SciFi Wire Caprica article. Admittedly the story was short and Caprica is really more an idea than an actual pre-production show at this point but I saw nothing to really bring about my interest in watching such a spinoff. I don't really care about politics (sexual or otherwise), corporate intrigue, and what the hell do they mean by "techno-action"? Sure I'd like to know a little more about the backstory of BSG and the Cylons and even...

Detail Design Presentation

Well last night we had our presentation of the LunaComm satellite project. The team was a bit pissed off that we had to go a day early because they scheduled some Holocaust survivor to speak during our normally scheduled time. (We couldn't find a single person on the campus, student or otherwise, who wanted to hear this person speak given that everyone was prepping for Finals and their various capstone presentations. Most thought it was stupid to schedule this person to speak at this time of year and that they should have done it last week.) It went pretty well...

Detail venting

*growls* I'm of a mind to put some serious hurt on certain members of the Detail project. Why? 1. The Comm system doesn't work because the idiot in charge of it refused to get any help when he couldn't get it up an running two weeks ago. Now it is too late. 2. The Deployment system still doesn't work. 3. Deployment system hasn't been installed into the main structure (see #2). 4. The antenna for the Deployment system has not been tested to see if can send or receive signal for C&DH. 5. The wiring harness has yet to be...

On a variety of topics…

I'm kind of bored right now. I should be studying I suppose or finishing up my last assignment for ADCS. Oh well. Well I got just about nothing I had planned to do for ThirdsphereNet done this week. There is however a new poll to complement last week's favorite SciFi Male Actor Poll. This week it's the Favorite Actresses of SciFi Poll. I'm going to put off any major updates to ThirdsphereNet until after my finals are completed, so basically two weeks of just new polls and the occasional article. I missed Doctor Who last night. *hang head in shame*...

Of satellites, herds, and BSG:OS

Things seem to be going okay with the LunaComm satellite build, aside from people trying to make last minute changes that are delaying final assembly. It has to be done by Saturday because that is when the integration team is going to do their testing. Sunday the Structures team I'm on are meeting to finish up all paperwork and change orders to be done so we can get them signed off and completed by teusday. All of this in preparation for the final two hour presentation next Thursday night at 7 pm. *flail* Actually I'm not too nervous about that,...

SoTH fic writing

I finally started my Safety of the Herd Mary Sue fanfic challenge today. I think I pulled a muscle laughing at what I've written so far. It's just so...well, Mary Sue-ish I can't help but laugh. It actually embarasses me to write this thing. Worse is knowing somewhere out there some fangirl/fanboy is actually going to love this fic as a serious piece of writing. :-/ Don't believe me? *points --->* FF.Net and choose a fandom. Mary Sues are everywhere and apparently well loved. Bleh.

School Stuff

It looks like the design team's LunaComm satellite is coming together well. Those of us on the structures team were doing a lot of building today of the main frame, base panels, and cross braces. Seven straight hours in the machine shop! Woohoo! (Though my feet are complaining a bit.) We had a few errors but luckily they were relatively easy to solve though a bit time consuming. I think I'll screm if I have to hand set one more rivet though. Even the guys were bitching about how hard it was to do after a while: cramped fingers, sore...

Lifestuff

It's hard to believe only two weeks until finals. Ahh!! *flail* Seriously, I'm strangely not stressing out all that much, save one class. The rest of my classes I know I'm sailing through just fine and will get at least a B grade. The last one...well...that one is stressing me a bit. Maybe it's because even though the entire Detail team in onstage to present our LunaComm Satellite project I'm not one of the primary presenters. I'm basically just there to help answer questions that may arise for the subsystem group I'm assigned. I think I'm actually stressing more on...

PKWars

*growl* I can't frelling believe SciFi is playing PKWars at 11pm to 3 am Monday night-Teusday morning. Arrg! I can't watch it since I've have to be up early for Design class so we can finish building our lunar commsat project. Okay, I have PKW on DVD anyways but still this is just annoying. Does skiffy have something against Farscape and Farscape fans? I mean seriously, what gives? What's with the crappy airing time for what was once one of their most popular shows? They do this to Dune the following night as well. Why not put those incredibly lame...

Interesting…

Okay, well interesting to me as an operator of a website. Most of the visitors to both ThirdsphereNet and Sebacea.com are Windows users (followed by Mac users and a handful of Unix/Linux users), but the overwhelmingly favorite browser is Netscape (or derivitives thereof, such as Firefox) followed by IE and Konqueror for the Linux folks. AAAhhhh!!! Frak! *blinks* Okay. James Callis is on Jason and the Argonauts on SciFi. Freaked me out because I just happened to look up and *bam* there's this frakking closeup of his face looking suitably crazed and I'm all 'WTF is Baltar doing in a...
