Battlestar Galactica 3.09 “Unfinished Business”

Warning: Spoilers!

Battlestar Galactica 3.09 “Unfinished Business”

 It’s just a Greek tragedy anyway…

Plot: Old grudges arise during boxing matches.

Viewing Comments:

  • Helo got a nice shot in there. Apollo too.
  • Shallow moment: The boys have some nice guns on them. ;-)
  • I feel sorry for Anders putting up with Kara.
  • Hmm. Guess Helo and Apollo have some anger issues, though obvious the respect is there. Too bad Starbuck is lacking in same respect.
  • And here we get the first inkling of what caused the rift between Kara and Lee.
  • Doc Cottle! In fatigues. :-)
  • Lee and Dee look pretty good together. Then again Adama and Roslin were kind of cute on planet. And this from a non-shipper.
  • Hot Dog vs. Starbuck. Hee. Got to give the kid props there for bravery. Stupid, but brave.
  • Side note: Bodie Olmos is looking pretty good there.
  • Duck! Ellen! The ‘Stache! Okay only flashback but…
  • Interesting that Adama holds a grudge over the Chief and Cally leaving.
  • Owch! Guess the Chief was mistaken to think the Old Man would go easy on him. They sure tore into each other.
  • I swear it looked like Adama was smoking a joint there. :-| I’m not sure whether to snerk or not.
  • Baltar looked pathetically cute shoveling dirt.
  • Gaeta was amusing as Baltar’s aide. Loved Adama and Roslin being relieved he finally left them alone.
  • “You literally drank Anders under the table.” *snerk* Anders sprawled on the dirt. *laughs*
  • Heh. Why do I find it amusing that Roslin is giving Adama advice on how to fight?
  • Talk about getting beaten to a bloody pulp.
  • Got to say this, Adama has a way of getting attention and getting his point across that the crew has been lacking discipline and too lax about everything since fleeing New Caprica.
  • Well, Kara was daring him to hit her. She got what she asked for.
  • Well so much for boxing. At least they didn't devolve into "Pro wrestling".
  • I liked the music and dancing at the celebration on New Caprica.
  • Well you knew it was going to end badly between Lee and Kara since they’re cheating on their respective lovers. Especially when Lee was ready to throw everything with Dee away for Kara.
  • And then Kara goes and gets married without telling Lee. She’s become a real expert at tearing his heart out.
  • Lee looked like he was about to throw up there. Or have a panic attack. JB does an excellent acting job there.
  • I actually began to feel sorry for the both of them during the final stages of the fight and vague reconciliation.
  • I also feel sorry for Dee and Anders. Dee at least had some inkling of what was going on. Anders didn’t until recently.
  • Too bad they didn’t keep the BSG:TOS’s original name for pyramid. Then the fans could call this silly Sam-Kara-Lee love triangle something equally stupid like the “Triad of Love”. Um or something since Dee should be in there as well.
  • I get the feeling most everyone thinks Apollo and Starbuck had a falling out over her leaving the Fleet. I can’t see Apollo letting it get out that he’s pissed off at Starbuck because he offered himself to her and was brutally shot down by her sudden marriage to Anders. For that matter, I don’t see Starbuck wanting that to become general knowledge either.

Miscellaneous Comments:

I had feared this episode would be somewhat lame filler episode and am pleased that it wasn’t entirely lame with nice themes on reconciliation and relationships. It was a nice episode for Adama/Roslin, Tigh/Ellen, Kara/Lee, Kara/Anders, and Lee/Dee relationships go. I am disappointed that the writers chose a soap operatic reason for the rift between Apollo and Starbuck but the actors made it work. That said it isn’t one I’d want to watch very often.

Lee and Kara

I can understand Lee’s anger over Kara marrying Anders after spending the night with him, even though I find his cheating on Dualla reprehensible. I find Kara cheating on Anders equally reprehensible, compounded by the fact that she didn’t want to marry Anders until Lee made it clear he wanted to be with her. What Kara did was completely cold blooded, so I can understand why Lee decided to cut her out of his life as much as possible given the past history of tearing Lee up whenever any hint of romantic entanglements arose.

Rating: 7.5/10

Actually it’s a Greco-Roman tragedy.
