Officer Aeryn Sun. Peace Keeper. Sabecean. Fugitive.

She shook her head in disgust. Never had she imagine she would become one of the very vermin her kind had imprisoned. And yet here she was. Stuck on a Leviathan transport hijacked by the very prisoners it had been transporting. And all because of a being she should have never given a second thought to once she'd discovered what he was. He may have looked like her kind but he wasn't of her kind.

'Why did I even consider helping him?' she wondered.

But she knew why. She had been curious to find another race like her own and yet not. Perhaps a lost Sabecean colony, perhaps a distant brethren race, or perhaps simple coincidence. All of which should have at least piqued the interest of her commanders, if not for Crais.

'I'm a fool. I should have known Captain Crais might not be receptive of this human. I witnessed his brother's Prowler be destroyed. What Peace Keeper would not want justice for the death of a sibling and fellow comrade?' Aeryn sighed, laying down on the bare sleeping palet to stare at an equally bare ceiling.

She had witnessed other Officers who had placed their own agendas before that of the Peace Keepers. And all of them had fallen in the end, destroyed by their ambitions. She had thought Captain Crais was above such pettiness. Had thought he would comprehend the situation this human called John Crichton had been thrown into. Instead, Crais had forgotten his oath as a Peace Keeper in exchange for petty revenge.

'And like a dutiful oath bound Officer I stood forward and freely gave the information that condemned me to this....this....' She frowned as only one phrase entered her mind, refusing to even give thought to the words.

She was a Peace Keeper. Born. Raised. Trained. She had fought long and hard to become an Officer, dedicated herslef to the very ideals of her position. She and others like her brought order to the chaos of the universe. Tranquility where once anaarchy had reigned. Brought honesty and justice to deceitful and lawless lands.

And her reward for such loyal service? To become caste in with the same creatures she despised to the very core of her being.

Crichton said she could be more than a Peace Keeper. But what did he know of her?

And yet she had followed this human's lead. Followed him back to this ship. To these people. And all the while she kept asking herself: 'Why?' and refusing to accept the answer her mind provided.

Closing her eyes, she inhaled deeply. Allowing herself to relax. Tomorrow would be a better time to consider her options. And so she lay there.

Officer Aeryn Sun. Peace Keeper. Sabecean. Fugitive. A prisoner without chains and yet still bound.
