Some randomness about my life

I've been busy lately, which seems pretty much the norm nowadays. Had some trouble for a few days between the computer crashing, my ISP annoying doing an systems "update" for three and half days (Why? IDK), and nearly breaking my damned fool leg while repainting the trim on the house. The first two were a bit annoying and the third I can actually look back on and laugh mainly because I didn't break my leg (or anything else). Daylight savings is here again...or is it gone? Hard to remember since we don't bother with it here in Arizona. The only...

Life in the fast lane…

I wish! I've been pretty busy lately what with work wrapping up the current contract and hunting for a new one (or even just a plain old regular hire on job). Needless to say that's eaten up a lot of my time, particularly these last two weeks. Still, I can't really complain all that much. Could be much worse. At least I'm getting regular inquiries, just nothing has landed yet. So this weekend should be fun, at least online and on TV. There's the Guild Wars Halloween event and the MLS playoffs starting up even if Nov 1 I might...

I shall scan thee…

...because I can. Obviously I'm in a good mood as I write this post before I go off to feed the cat, feed myself, and then watch some Sanctuary and Fringe on television tonight. Like I wrote in a previous post everything seems to be coming up dragons for me. (I.e. everything seems to be going my way now after years--yes years-- of one obstacle after another getting in the way of what I want to do.) Life The old printer I had died, which is okay considering it was ten years old and survived moving to and from Prescott...

Comps, Life, and TV

Computer My computer's power supply died the other day, which was both a relief and annoying. A relief, since for a brief moment I thought I'd lost the hard drive and all my unsaved files for the week on it. Annoyance, since I had to go get another PS and then install it. But everything seems fine now, no other issues with the comp. Life Learned my contract job with be ending a month earlier than planned (November instead of December), which sucks, so I'm already back to the job search for another job, contract or otherwise. That's one thing...

Review: Haven 2.12 “Sins of the Fathers”

Warning: spoilers below the cut! Haven 2.12 Sins of the Fathers   Nathan and Audrey, still reeling from the Teagues revealing what they know of her true past earlier in the morning,  investigate an apparent murder in which the murderer claims it was an accident as he was there at the behest of a dead man to protect said dead man’s wife. What makes it even more interesting are the neighbors who claim to have seen the dead man leaving the house shortly after the shooting, giving some credence to the murderer’s words. Duke, meanwhile, is visited by his father’s...

LJ & Life

Obviously, I've been terrible about posting regularly on Livejournal. So I'm hoping to get back to regular postings (at least once a week) about whatever I feel like. Most likely that will be television related things. I'm not sure why I drifted away from LJ aside from being distracted by events going on in RL and a number of folks on LJ going elsewhere or dropping the service entirely. In any case, I'm going to try to post more. Yes, real posts. Not just the tweets of mine from Twitter. I admit getting a chuckle out of seeing the tweet...

Review: Haven 2.06: Audrey Parker’s Day Off

Warning: Spoilers under the cut! Haven 2.06 “Audrey Parker’s Day Off” Summary Audrey Parker awakens to Chris the morning after their date and agrees to spend the day with him after she does one thing: a talk at the school’s career day. Things are going well until she gets a call from Nathan about an accident. Upon arriving she discovers a child has been killed and Nathan, himself visibly shaken, won’t let her see the scene. Suddenly Parker finds herself back at the beginning of the day. Unsure of whether it is simply déjà vu or something else she goes...

Review: Eureka 4.11 “Liftoff”

Warning: Spoilers below the cut! Eureka 4.11 “Liftoff”   Plot: Relationships are tested when an inadvertent launch strands Fargo and Zane in orbit.   Viewing Points:   The bride is having cold feet. I knew the bride was SARAH.Thanks Henry, now we know Jack and Alison are going to have some disagreement this episode for sure. Disengaging aerospace engineer mode. Otherwise I’d never get past harping about the rocketry to enjoy the episode.Never really thought Zane would freak out like that in space. Not surprised Fargo is totally geeking out at achieving a lifelong dream (even if it was not the...

Haven Season 2 Episode List

I was working on my putting up my small Haven fan site but then the service providers put the server into maintenance mode so couldn't finish for now. (I seem to be having all sorts of bad luck with the internet the past couple days. :-/) So I was curious to see what episode names have been released for Haven's second season and went searching about the web. What I've found so far:2.01: A Tale of Two Audreys2.02: Fear & Loathing2.03: Love Machine 2.05: RootsNote that yes, there was no title listed for episode 2.04 that I could find.Sources: IMDB, The...

Some thoughts on Bones

Warning! Possible spoilery comments on tonight's episode of Bones under the cut. I found the episode to be pretty good tonight. The plot was solid and nicely tense. Over all strong follow up to last week's impressive episode. Specific points: I usually stay away from spoilers for Bones so I was appropriately surprised at Mr. Nigel Murray being killed. I think they did a good job of conveying the loss of the character as well without becoming maudlin. As I understand it, Ryan Cartwright will be on the forthcoming series, Alphas. Booth and Brennan. Alright I'm not a shipper and...
