Beware of Spoilers for Captain' Hand behind the cut!I really enjoyed the episode. The dialog and plot were much sharper than previous installments of Black Market, Scar, and Sacrifice.Miscellaneous comments/notes: So it's been one month or there about since the end of Sacrifice. Lee's still recovering, thoug if he's sexing Dee he can't be that bad. Bad enough to be restricted from flight status, but still able to perform light duties like taking up the XO slot on Pegasus. A Major now eh? Sweet. Pegasus - The Beast. Galactica - The Bucket. Yeah, I think I'd be laughing about those...

Olympics: Shani Davis

Put behind the cut at the request of flist member afraid of being "spoiled" by the results of Olympic events. Congratulations to American Shani Davis in becoming the first black athlete ever to win an individual gold at the winter olympics for his victory in men's 1000m speedskating. It's kind of odd that this hasn't happened earlier given the success black athlete's have had in the summer games. The only thing kind of marring the whole historic event is the apparent bad blood with Hedrick, who congratulated Joey Cheek (who got the silver behind Davis) but not Davis. Maybe Hedrick...

BSG Fic: The Adventures of Brigand and Sass (PG)

Note: This is an alternate title that I came up with to avoid any potential spoilers for BSG Season 2's The Captain's Hand. Title: The Adventures of Major Brigand and Captain Sass Subtitle: Episode 1: Rise of the Brigand King and Sass Queen Spoilers: Season 2’s The Captain’s Hand Note: In the grand tradition of bad fic I bring you a slightly comical and snarky look at Apollo and Starbuck. Inspired by an HD5 Spoiler discussion for The Captain’s Hand. Rating: PG Word count: 555 ****** Galactica CIC. Dualla: “Incoming message from Pegasus. It’s Major Adama sirs.” Muttering to self:...

Andreas Katsulas Tribute

For all those Babylon 5 and Andreas Katsulas fans out there who may be interested an excellent video Tribute to Andreas Katsulas can be found at In Memory of Andreas Katsulas 1946-2006. The Galactic Gateway site also has a nice tribute to AK and are collecting messages for AK's family.

grrrrrr

Frakking aol. It appears I've been missing a lot of emails from friends and online acquaintances lately with aol claiming there was no problem on their end. Did everything they said and guess what...still not getting all my emails. *growls* The missing emails are suspiciously enough from gmail and hotmail accounts. scar_bsg75 has been trying to help me sort all this out but it's still annoying, especially since I've been relying on the email addy I've had for years. Most annoying is that customer service is absolutely no help what so ever. So I'm reduced to using a account I...

drive by posting

Seems I'm swamped again today but fortunately I should be free and clear by tomorrow aside from one exam to study for. So it looks like the SG1 and SGA reviews backlog wont be up until thursday or possibly even friday. Olympics. Team USA men's hockey team ended with a tie. Not surprised. Men's hockey is much more even and competative than women's hockey. I'm torn on tomorrow's game though because Team USA will be going up against Kazakhstan. I guess I'll root for the USA since it is my home country but I won't be too upset if the...

BSG Review “Sacrifice”

Better late than never, right? SPOILERS FOR BSG's "Sacrifice" behind the cut... I was surprised that I actually liked this episode given what I had read in spoilers. (Yes, I'm a spoiler-ho.) While not the greatest BSG episode out there this one was a bit tighter in it's writing and plot despite some of the contrivances that we, as viewers, were required to accept. Probably the only that was a bit bothersome about this episode (and admittedly some of the previous ones) was the idea that people have so much free time that they're writing up conspiracy theories on newsletters,...

Happy Singles Awareness Day

Or as the attached people call it St. Valentine's Day. Other alternate names include... Chocolate Consumption Day, Desperately Looking for Date Day, National Pink Day, Guilt Your S.O. Into Giving A Present Day, and Chocolate Orgy Fest Day to name but a few nicknames I and friends of mine have come up with over the years. On the Olympic front- Glad to see Team USA's women's hockey team still doing well. I was worried for a little bit when they were behind against Finland for a time during today's match but they seemed to pull themselves together and went on...

Andreas Katsulas “G’kar” (1946-2006)

It's being reported by SyFy Portal that Andreas Katsulas lost his fight with cancer on 13 February 2006. I am saddened to hear this news as yet another wonderful actor leaves this world. I remember always enjoying his performances on the various shows and movies I saw him in, but his most memorable role (for me) was that of G'Kar on Babylon 5. I will always remember him as one of my favourite actors of all time. Rest in peace, Mr. Katsulas. You will be missed.

Olympics

What you thought I'd let a day go by without commenting at least once on the Olympics? Silly, flist. But first I'd like to say that my reviews for BSG, SG1, and SGA will be posted tomorrow assuming I don't get swamped again like today. Now my Olympic comment for the night... Go Team USA's women's halfpipe winners (Gold and Silver)! What was rather scary was how dominant in the standing the American women were in the half pipe (4 of the top 6 were Americans. What about the Canadians? Don't they usually do pretty well in half pipe?). Yay...
