Sometimes the past is also the future…

I've just been doing some minor changes and organizing of this LJ, setting it up to return to being just my science fiction and space related journal instead of a catch-all for whatever strikes me. I've been meaning to do this for several months now. So how does this change things here? Not much. All posts will go back to just being science fiction and space related. There will still be the rare non-SF post should problems arise that warrant me letting my LJ friends now about or if an interesting science fiction article/fanfic comes my way at the either...

Golden Eagles get 2nd place at SAFECON

I'm waaayy behind on things when I only just today find out that the Golden Eagles Flight Team of ERAU - Prescott came in second place at the SAFECON national competition. UND won first and Western Michigan came in third. ERAU - Daytona came in sixth. The GEFT also brought home the Judges Trophy for best overall team. Yay, Eagles!
Well I got back last night. Had a good time hanging out with Dan aside from scar_bsg75's email that it made it sound like Thirdsphere had gone into nuclear meltdown or something when it was only a programming glitch. (I appreciated the concern, though.) Pretty much we just hung out and caught up on things since we hadn't talked in person for some two years, just emails and messaging. Greetings from TucsonDan and I had fun catching up and reminiscing about his Dad. Plans for scattering his dad's ashes in space seem to be going well and on schedule for...
Not much to say except been busy working around the apartment complex. Probably wont post much this weekend since I'm heading down to Tucson to visit with Dan.

BSG Icons and Artwork

Spent today helping one of the neighbors finish moving out and then volunteered for some maintenance work at the complex (in exchange for a hundred buck of next month's rent...sweet) before the afternoon got too hot and uncomfortable to do any heavy work. After that just puttered around the apartment and got some exercise in. Haven't heard anything from job interview but they did say it would probably be a few days. Anyway, on to the real point of this post... new BSG icons and artwork. Under the first cut are two icons - 1 Adama, 1 Tigh. They're under...
Felt blah all day, probably from the tuna salad last night, but did stuff anyway: helping neighbor move out of their apartment, helped another with their summer materials engineering class, and the usual domestic stuff. Took a on-line quiz at Theiling Online since I was interested in seeing how well I remembered my cyrillic (russian) alphabet. Did okay. Only 98 percent since I forgot the difference in appearance between tvyordiy znahk (proceeding consonant made soft) and myakhkeey znahk (used to separate two words). Did surprisingly well in the greek section with 75 percent, considering I'd only put in maybe a...
Well I think the interview went pretty well, though it's hard to tell sometimes what people really think during these things. Got pelted by some hail on the way to the interview but it (the hail) cleared out pretty quickly. (Heh.) Anyway, on the way back to the apartment I also decided to drop off applications at a couple of other places. At least this way I'll be doing something while on break from university besides sitting around and screwing around on the net all day. If nothing else, I'll just drop an app off at the nearby store that's...

Meme thing…

Since I've got some time to kill before I go to a job interview, thought I'd do a meme: list 10 things you want to do in your life in any order. Something important, something mundane, public or personal, serious or amusing, farfetched or attainable, long term or short term, anything. 1. Visit all 50 U.S. States. (I have visited/lived in six so far.) 2. Obtain pilot's license. 3. Visit the Seven Modern Wonders of the World: Great Pyramid of Giza, Great Wall of China, Taj Mahal, Serengeti Migration, Galapagos, Grand Canyon, Machu Picchu. (Strike through = done) 4. Learn...

Doctor Who

I've been lagging behind lately in reading some of my newsfeeds, so this is probably old news to most but I was pleasantly surprised about some stuff occurring on Doctor Who while browsing through the feed from SFcrowsnest. (Spoilers for both US and UK viewers) I was pleased to see that they are going to bring back the Cybermen to the series. Even better is knowing that they're updating them and making them much more sinister. Not unlike what they did in Dalek. I also like the new look for the returning Cybermen. I also like what I'm reading for...
