It’s the season…

Ah, the yearly web site complaint... I was wondring if I was actually going to go an entire year with nary a peep. Guess not. 😀 Apparently someone filed a complaint against ThirdsphereNet with the web host. Happily the web host administrator found no violations of TOS. Duh, why would I want to do that? I've been operating Thirdsphere (since 1999) and it's previous incarnations (B5Crusader's Babylon 5 Page, Gray's Void, Blacklion's Den, et al) since 1992. This has been happening at least once a year on a yearly basis since 2000, so I'm used to it. For all I...

GW: Dragon Festival 2009

The Canthan Dragon Festival for 2009 starts this Thursday, July 2 at 12:00 PM PDT (19:00 UTC) and end Sunday, July 5 at 23:59 PM PDT (6:59 UTC). No word on this year's mask as yet.Looks like it's going to be the standard Dragon Festival as in previous years with the boardwalk, games, quests and missions. Guess that means I get to work on my AFKer...I mean, Lucky/Unlucky titles after doing the festival quests. Maybe I'll do better on the missions this year. Last yeah only succeeded on Haiju Lagoon with a decent PUG. Unfortunately we sucked later doing Jaya Bluffs, which spelled...

Daily randomness

Randomness:Got quite a bit of programming done on private little Battletech project.Made a new banner for this blog, hated it, deleted it.Made some new icons, but haven't decided if I like them yet.The feral cats colony is doing well, despite people using the economy to dump there pets (especially pregnant ones) instead of taking them to the Humane Society or similar organizations. Looks like all the kittens will be adopted out by the end of August, which is good.Awaiting Phoenix's first major storm of the season but if all goes true to form that won't happen until next week, after...

Miscellaneous thoughts

The foundation creeks.Distorted in the maelstrom Lay funeral pyres.Billy Mays has joined the list of recent celebrities to have died. Just seems kind of weird is all. I can almost here it now: "Billy Mays Here...In Heaven" or some such phrase. RIP Billy Mays.I remember why I like blog-surfing on WordPress again: so many different people and experiences and opinions expressed. Some mundane, others touching, and some completely engrossing. I should also really get back to posting science, aerospace, and other tech things there.I should really make some new icons for LJ. The current ones I'm using are okay but...

Confederations Cup Final: Brazil 3-USA 2

Pride & Heartbreak: USA falls 3-2 to Brazil in Confed. FinalThe Brazil-US match up turned out to be much more entertaining than I had thought it would be. And much more surprising in that the US finally seem to put a team on that field that was just that- a team. For me, it was nice to finally see the Tim Howard I was used to watching perform in goal- tenacious, tough, and fearless. Of course, that didn't stop the always talented Brazilians from scoring and eventually winning but at least this loss for the US Mens team is a...

When It Rains, It Monsoons…

Just some random thought on weather... You know it still grates on my nerves when I hear so called meteorologists on the local news calling Arizona's forthcoming rainy season- monsoon. Don't know why. It just does. I mean, last I looked, Arizona wasn't located in southern Asia as the original definition of monsoon described. I guess some bored weatherman with a little hydrology information didn't think "rainy season" was good enough and realized Arizona's wet season tended to coincide with the monsoons in India, Pakistan, et al, and voila-- Arizona suddenly has monsoons. Eh, for all I know scientifically or...

Review: Virtuality

Non-spoiler comments:Overall I found Virtuality somewhat lacking as either a stand alone tele-movie or a pilot for a television series. The presentation felt a bit plodding. ham-fisted, and uninteresting until the final scene. The characters garnered no sort of connection with me as a viewer, with the notable exceptions of a handful of scenes. (Not for lack of trying on the parts of the actors.) Otherwise, I didn't really care what happened to them. I'm afraid Ron Moore and Co failed on this one as far as writing went: too muddled from previously used science fiction concepts, combined with reality...

Guild Wars: Being GL

So apparently I was automatically promoted to Guild Leader because the original GL had been offline too long and I was the most active member lately. O.oI don't know how to run a guild, but I guess I'll be learning unless one of the old time officers wants it.Now about that damned pink cape....
